This week I photo graphed a $100 bill. I took 18 macro shots of it, and then blended them together manually in photoshop. To make the color correct, I scanned the bill and then used color match in Photoshop; the key to doing this is keeping consistent color between each of the photographs. I found that the automated photo merge function would not work. The final image is approximately 18 inches tall and 41 inches wide. Due to legal restrictions regarding currency, I am unable to post the final image without the additional markings.

These are the original photographs. All were taken June 17, 2009 in Rexburg, ID, with a 300mm tele-foto lens (f/9, 1/5s.) at 9:00pm.

The Graffiti image was taken by placing a MagLite on the ground below in “candle mode”. This was the only shot before the batteries ran out. I played heavily with the saturation and contrast in Camera RAW as well.

The Painting with Light images was done using the little lights and a street light around Florences Chocolate in Rexburg. No changes were made to it.
